Big Data the new “Big” thing to hit IT
But what is Big Data? Are companies utilising Big Data correctly? Do companies understand Big Data?
Big Data is effectively each and every piece of data your organization has stored till now, it includes data stored in clouds and even the URLs that you bookmarked. All this data can be used to get different results using different types of analysis. Different analysis uses different parts of the Big Data to produce the results and predictions necessary.
This is where specialist technologies such as Hadoop/NoSQL have played a huge part in Big Data, rather than working like a usual database, they provide specialist analysis across a large amount of data, enabling companies to manage their Big Data needs. Companies can also utilise Data Scientists to predict data patterns and enable them to use the data in a more proficient and profitable way.
Here at 24-7 we have partnered several consultancies and companies who are researching Big Data or starting up Big Data Practices. They require our industry knowledge to search for specialists with up to date knowledge around the subject, these have included Big Data Developers, Big Data Architects and Data Scientists.

The Software Development Lifecycle
Here at T4S we understand how important each stage of the development lifecycle is. We have dedicated teams who have vast knowledge on market data, average salaries and recruitment processes to make things go smoothly. We pride ourselves on having the understanding of business requirements to make sure the right profile gets the right role.
This can be broken down to many stages but the main stages are below:
- Requirement Gathering and Analysis stage
- Design stage
- Implementation / Development stage
- Testing stage
- Deployment stage
- Maintenance and Support stage
- Requirement Gathering – During this stage is where the business will be speaking to the end user, understanding the needs through stakeholder management and getting a good feel of what the end product will want to look like. After requirement gathering, it will be analysed and relayed to the development team.
- Design – This stage is where they will use the information gathered from the previous stage to creating the end product. The design will specify the tools, technologies, hardware and software needed to proceed.
- Implementation / Development – At this point is when the coding starts. The developers will also be working with testers in a TDD approach to make sure everything is working well. They will divide the project into modules where teams will work on each model then bring it all together.
- Testing – Should the approach not be a TDD, and then the next stage will involve heavily testing all modules. They will then combine all modules and test it again.
- Deployment – After all the testing has been completed the next stage is when the product is rolled out into a live environment.
- Maintenance and Support stage – This stage will be monitoring the system, making sure everything is working correctly and supporting the end user should anything happen ]

Architecture & Design
Behind every company lies a variety of IT systems that most people in the company won’t know even exist, the better these systems/applications run mean the better the design. This is where architecture comes in within IT.
24-7 has built its reputation working with companies designing a variety of IT platforms and Infrastructure environments, these companies have varied from banking/finance, on-line travel, on-line gaming and betting and professional services. We’ve partnered with these companies and worked closely with architects ensuring they design a complex IT environment, ensuring all systems and applications are available 24x7x365.
Whether you’re looking for a Technical Architect with a bit more of a technical feel and advice around technology, a Solutions Architect to improve in-house IT system or make on-line platforms more available a faster, or even an Enterprise Architect to implement an Architecture Framework and Governance model 24-7 have worked on these assignments and have a strong network of professionals.
UI or User Interface Developers, often also called Front End Developers are tasked with taking a visual design and turning it into a working web page / site to work across multiple devices (desktop, tablet, mobile) and multiple browsers (IE, Safari, Chrome, Firefox etc). Pretend a website is a car. There are a lot of things inside of a car that help it run – make it speed up, slow down, even keep on the lights. All of these things you can’t really see – but are really important – that’s the back-end.
But then there are items that you directly use in the car to make it go: your gas and brake pedals, the steering wheel. And there are also a lot of things on that car that make it fun to drive and cool to look at: a racing stripe, a slick leather interior. All the stuff you can directly touch, see or hear? That’s the front end / or User Interface.
Project Management & Business Analysis
Business Analyst’s will visualise the ‘bigger picture’ of an organisation through business and technology. A Business Analsyt will work extremely closely with the company’s key stakeholders and technical teams to ensure that any concerns or problems are addressed appropriately. They will be responsible whilst brainstorming a solution and creating functional & non-functional business requirements to accommodate business needs.
A Project Manager will hold a high responsibility to initiate, plan, validate and evaluate important decisions within a business or organisation. A PM must recognise and measure the success of a project thoroughly through its lifetime whilst raising concerns and opinions to ensure they are dealt with quickly and effectively.
The relationship between the two professionals can vary depending on the structure and size of an organisation and the level of BA/PM involved in a project. Communication between both individuals is crucial in order for a business to successfully manage and scope a project to specific budgets and deadlines.
24-7 has placed many Technical Business Analysts and Projects Managers into a range of small, medium and large businesses across a variety of sectors within the ecommerce, gaming, travel, media and digital space.
Most recently 24-7 had multiple assignments for a client who were looking to transition between the Waterfall and Agile methodology. This was a great success for us as our network helped us place 12 Project Managers and 9 Business Analysts between January 2015 and October 2015 with responsibility of delivery projects with budgets of up to £20m.
